To play Checkers, you need a Checker board, Checker pieces, and two people. Before you begin to play, you have to pick a color and agree with your opponent. Then, put the Checkers pieces in position on the black squares on your own half of the board. Black goes first because smoke comes before fire.

To begin playing, black moves one square diagonally. Then the other player goes next and moves red one square diagonally. Then the game keeps on going.

If you want to jump your opponent's piece, they would have to be diagonally next to you -just jump over the one square they are in. Then that piece you jumped gets taken off the board. If you go across to the other side of the board, you say ''king me ''and the other player has to king you.

Try to get all your pieces to the other end of the board. The game continues on until one player is out of pieces.
